International Women’s Day at M.O. HQ

IWD has been observed since the early 1900’s, and from then until now the world has witnessed a significant change and attitudinal shift in both women’s and society’s thoughts about women’s equality.

Modus prides itself on creating opportunities for all our staff, but with a growing female led team – we are constantly on the lookout for ways to not only make OUR workplace a safe place to grow and learn – but also the Brewing industry itself.

With the likes of Pink Boots and other fantastic Female industry leaders – we are doing our best to celebrate and acknowledge all departments of the industry that contribute to the end product – Beer!

This year we have created an IWD Brew, created, brewed AND marketed from start to finish by our amazing team of Women (with the help of those on the brew deck of course!)

We chose to create a Saison using WLP566 Belgian Saison Yeast, and a variety of Gladfield Malts including Lager Light and Munich. Gladfield Malts are also an equal opportunity employer which we are proud to work alongside.

We then used both Magnum and Jester in the boil to create some solid hop additions to this saison. In turn we then added Wax Flower as the dry hop.

As a result our IWD Saison has floral perfume on the nose, followed by lemon myrtle and left with a dry, clean mouthfeel.

We are super proud of this creation, and we have affectionately named this beer “Riot Girl Punch” after the early 1990’s subcultural movement that combines feminism, punk music and politics.
