Autumn is here

Autumn is here

With five beers launched in March, it was always going to be hard to top it in April. That's why we're kicking things off at the brew pub with the Showstopper. A New South Wales grown and brewed beer, released especially for the Sydney Royal Easter Show.  Having competed in the Sydney Royal Easter Beer & Cider competition since 2014 we understand it's significance.  The Royal Easter Show is an opportunity to exhibit quality produce from specific areas and be judged against the best. We're still proud that last year we took out the title for Best NSW Beer with Former Tenant Red IPA.

The Showstopper is a crisp, refreshing pale. Brewed with malted barley from the growers in Forbes Western NSW and fresh Cascade hops from Ryfield Hops in Bemboka close to the NSW border. At 3.9% ABV it’s easy drinking craft beer that will appeal to a wide audience. With the Easter Show now over we have managed to squirrel away a few kegs that will only be available at the brewpub with a very limited release from Friday 6th April.

Vanilla Mocha Stout

Vanilla Mocha Stout

With a cheeky sneak preview of our Vanilla Mocha Stout at the Good Beer Week Gala Showcase, we can't wait to launch it proper. The feedback by the few that tried it has been great and we're working on the launch as we speak. It will be a Victoria only release, in kegs and cans just ahead of the Good Beer Week events. We will post a seperate release purely on our goings on. As the official brewery of the festival, we'll be turning up at Beer Deluxe and a Pint of Origin. We've been working on getting some merch ready for the festival that will be celebrating the Vanilla Mocha Stout.

Another National release. Expect a new Limited Release from us at the end of April. We're going to squeeze in something exciting before the weather turns too cold. Watch this space.

March Releases

March Releases

Having launched Majestic Leopard with a bang on 2nd March. This month promises to be one of our busiest yet. Thank you for the support shown for the Little Cat's release, we're super stoked with how it turned out and for our largest National Release, it's been getting a great reception. We wanted to brew a sessionable beer that didn't compromise on flavour. We're hoping it's the go to for the last remaining days at the beach.

Van.jpg

But that's just the start of March, next up we have our third release in the IP Series - Campervan IPA.  Another fruity, hazy IPA brewed with Citra and Mosaic hops. We've mixed things up with the malt base, we've used a traditional German variety from Weyerman Cologne, part of an innovative initiative with Cryer Malt. The difference is very much in the mouthfeel. Campervan is coming in at 5.8% and pouring at Modus HQ from Friday 9th March. It's going to be packaged that day and so fresh as! Stockist updates to follow.

We're pouring a new Collab beer with Brisbane Brewhouse for Brews Vegas Sunday 11th at Breakfast of Champions. The Beer is a Blackberry Milkshake IPA - Blackberry Hopcakes. Using over 10kgs of Blackberries, some lactose and a serious amount of Mosaic, this is a festival beer to get people frothing. On the hush hush, we've grabbed a few kegs at the brewery and will be on tap this Friday.

We'll be at the Gala Showcase for Good Beer Week in Federation Square, as an official brewery of Good Beer Week, we've thrown a bit of weight behind it and brewed a beer especially for the festival. Giving a sneak peak at the gala. The beer is called Vanilla Mocha Stout and as the name suggests there's some serious, chocolate, coffee and vanilla in this rich Stout. It's brewed with lactose and ends being sweet and creamy. Full details of the launch in April will be posted.

Majestic Leopard

Majestic Leopard

Let us introduce you to our first National Limited Release of 2018 - Majestic Leopard.

Cats are mysterious creatures, they prowl around neighbourhoods and homes with a knowing feline grace. But there is one cat that has more elegance and style than the rest. This cat looks unassuming but it’s a Majestic Leopard. It transcends lifetimes with it’s true spirit captured within a tiny endearing house cat. Don’t be fooled by it’s appearance; this cat is fierce.

At 5.0 ABV our Majestic Leopard gives off all the qualities of a bigger beer through the use of Mosaic, Eukanot, El Dorado and Vic Secret hops which cause an overfow of pungent peachy, freshly squeezed mandarin and berrylicious bubblegum aromas & flavours, all whilst gracefully slinking in as a small, unassuming package. Take a sip and enjoy a lurid session that takes your soul to new places and transcends lifetimes.

We'll be releasing this little beer on the 2nd March at the Brewery and at selected venues on the same day. Cans will be leaving the brewery the same time, we'll update stockists next week.

The results are in.

The results are in.

Firstly, a massive thanks to everyone that voted for us in the GABS Hottest 100. We were as intrigued as anyone, this was always going to be interesting and it was good to see some new faces in the crowd. We’re stoked that we placed five beers in the 100, thank you again to everyone that voted for us. We didn’t want to funnel the votes towards two or three beers and so entered a few. We’re proud of them all and so it felt wrong not putting them forward. There’s a child analogy I’m sure.

But as we see it, there were plenty of highlights. We were the 4th most voted for brewery in the country. Future Factory was one of the highest limited releases, for a one-off beer to be voted gives us enormous pride. The vote conversion on that is very high –clearly our voters love a limited release! The vote isn’t the be all and end all, and lets face it, it’s all a bit of fun but to be voted 4th most popular brewery and have three beers in the top 21 is not bad for a local independent (that supports independents). We’re already up and running for 2018 having released two of our keg only limited releases – Sunstroke & Twisted Melons. We have a new brew in the pipeline for a bigger release which we’re excited about. More details on that one to follow shortly.

More results!

The Hottest 100 wasn’t the only comp going on last weekend. Hopquest 2.0 took place at Beer Deluxe in Fed Square in Melbourne. A massive thank you for everyone that attended. It was a great day filled with amazing beers! The competition was tight and all the brewers put forward beers of a new level. We were runners up on the day with Hop Nation pipping us for the top spot. Congrats to them. Sunstroke will have to be the best New South Wales beer for this year’s Hopquest!

Events!

We are getting out and about more and more. Last year we attended or hosted an epic number o events and we want to push that further. Keep an eye on our Facebook page where we share tastings, tap takeovers, dinners, brewery events and of course limited releases. We'll put a few on instagram and of course here but for most things FB's the way to go.

Thanks to everyone that messaged us after our last blog. Super interesting to hear your thoughts. We'll reply with some actions in due course but keep them coming. Slack has been a channel that we're investigating and so that might become a thing for the subscribers. Talking about feedback, we’ve had some chat around our launches, so this year we’re going to continue to improve to make sure as many people get a chance to get their hands on our limited releases. What that means will see bigger releases and more events!
